Is there any negative marking?

I have gone through the previous years GATE questions papers and have a little doubt whether negative marking is there in the examination or not. Please tell me

There is a negative marking in the GATE Examination. The marking may be changed per year pattern.
1/3rd or 1/4th marks of the total marks alloted to the particular question per wrong answer is deducted.

1/3rd or 1/4th of the total marks allotted to that particular question are deducted from the total marks scored by you.
