There are many differences in the examination pattern of CAT and MAT entrance tests. Although the questions in both the tests are asked to examine aptitude of the students in the relevant fields but CAT is more specific in this regard. MAT Entrance Test also includes questions based on the general knowledge and current affairs along with general aptitude-type questions. In sections of Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation, the main difference between the two exams is the level of difficulty as well as the types of questions asked in both the entrance tests. The MAT is more formula-based, while the CAT is totally application-based.
